The yearly meeting of diocesan delegates for health pastoral care, an event organised by the health pastoral department of the Bishops’ Conference of Spain, is going on in Madrid until tomorrow, Wednesday 25th September. Organised a few months before the start of Jubilee 2025, the meeting has been called “Pilgrims of hope” and is attended by Father Francisco Julián Romero Galván, coordinator of the Jubilee 2025 secretariat, which has been tasked with presenting the general details of the Jubilee and what is more specifically relevant to the world of health and care for the sick. Today’s meeting will be focussed on the yearly report on the pastoral work of the Catholic religious service for hospital care. As shown in the programme of the event, the keynote speech will be given by Father Luis Sánchez Ruiz, coordinator of the inter-diocesan health pastoral care service of the Levante. There will be opportunities for the attendants to share ideas and workgroups on the different areas of the yearly report, as well as a presentation of the initiatives for the Jubilee celebrations in the dioceses, and the role of delegations of health pastoral care. Two conferences have been planned for tomorrow, generally called “places for learning and practising hope”. The yearly meeting will end with a presentation of workgroups on mental health, care for elderly people in parishes, palliative care in hospitals, and a presentation of the new webpage of the department.
