European election: Amnesty International’s manifesto, for an EU “in which everyone’s human rights will be respected”

Today, one month before the date of the European election, Amnesty International published a “Manifesto for European election” which means to act as a “source of inspiration for nominees as well as providing key guidance to voters, so as to have an Europe in which everyone’s human rights will be respected ”. Eve Geddie, Head of the European Institution office of Amnesty International, states: “To have a brighter, fairer and more sustainable future, the European Union must place rights at the centre of its policies. We want a European Parliament made of people who will support and promote human rights at home and abroad, and who will be ready to call the European institutions to answer for their failures”. The European Parliament election “plays a decisive role in the daily and future lives of millions of people. at a time in which the fundamental principles of human rights and the pre-eminence of rights are at risk, it is essential for people to make their voices heard and steer the direction the European Union will take”, Geddie concluded.
