The European Union condemns yesterday’s Israeli airstrikes on a refugee camp in Rafah, which started fires that killed at least 45 people, including many women and children, and injured around 200. Once again, it was the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, who spoke out today, as the number of victims has not yet been confirmed. Borrell said he is “horrified” by the reports of Israeli airstrikes on Rafah that “killed dozens of displaced persons, including young children.” Borrell issued a “strong condemnation” and a warning: “These attacks must stop immediately”. Borrell also called on both sides to respect the orders of the International Court of Justice and the principles of international humanitarian law.
