Under the slogan “They risk their lives for the Gospel”, on Sunday 3rd March the Spanish Church will be celebrating the Day of Latin America. A day to support mainly the Spanish priests who left their original dioceses to cooperate with the Catholic Church in Latin America. Such priests have gathered in the Spanish American Work of Priestly Cooperation (OCSHA). The OCSHA priests accomplish their job with the help of the NGO “Misión América”. In addition to the official prayer and poster, the Episcopal Committee for Missions and Cooperation with Churches has published materials to celebrate such Day: the message of the president of the Pontifical Committee for Latin America (Cardinal Robert Prevost), two liturgical resources, a document with information about the money paid by the Spanish dioceses into the collection on the Day of Latin America Latina and about the OCSHA priests, by original diocese, by country and by target diocese. Currently, the Spanish OCSHA priests working in different countries of Latin America are 150. In 2023, the diocesan priests who left for their service belong to the dioceses of Madrid and Toledo, and they were sent to Mexico and Peru.
