Wednesday, 16 October, will mark 7 years since the assassination of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. On that day, the International Federation of Journalists is organising a commemoration “of her life and work” in Brussels, at noon, in front of the European Council headquarters at Rue de la Loi 155. A number of initiatives are also planned in Malta for that day. At 3 p.m., at the time and place where the car in which she was travelling blew up, there will be a silent event; at 6 p.m., there will be a memorial Mass at the Church of St Francis in Valletta, and at 7 p.m. a protest March followed by a Vigil in front of the memorial that remembers her at the Great Siege Square in the Maltese capital. Indeed, although seven years have passed since the investigative journalist was killed, still no light has been shed on the attack, and no justice has been served. Daphne Caruana Galizia was investigating corruption and organised crime in Malta.
