Tomorrow, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte and Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković. “This will be the occasion to meet with the authorities and encourage progress on the accession process of the country, after EU leaders expressed in December 2023 their readiness to open accession negotiations once the necessary compliance with the membership criteria was achieved”, a statement specifies. Together with Prime Ministers Rutte and Plenković, President von der Leyen will hold meetings respectively with members of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency, the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, and finally with members of the Joint Collegium of the country’s Parliamentary Assembly. Lastly, President von der Leyen and Prime Ministers Rutte and Plenković will meet with representatives of the civil society.
