With the motto “I share what I am”, on Sunday January 14th Spain will be celebrating the National Missionary Childhood Day, the Pontifical Mission for children all over the world, for them to be trained in the mission and for their generosity to reach missionaries in their work with children. In 2023, Spain was top of the list as the country that donates the most to the “Missionary Childhood” association. With Spanish children’s and adults’ donations supporting Missionary Childhood, 2 million and 325 thousand euros were raised to support 431 projects in 44 countries. These projects are promoted and monitored by the Holy See in the area of education, healthcare, the protection of life, and evangelisation. Internationally, the missionaries provide education, healthcare and Christian training to over 4 million children in 120 countries. To fund their work, the Holy See provides the Universal Solidarity Fund for Missionary Childhood. Every year, it distributes the donations received from all over the world to projects for children in the 1,122 lands of mission that report to the second Section of the Dicastery for Evangelisation. Donations are allocated to individual projects through the Nunciatures, and every project is approved by the local Bishops. Then, all the projects must submit reports about their implementation.
