EU: health, 2024 work programme. 752 million in funding. Responding to health crises, beating cancer

The European Commission has today adopted the 2024 EU4Health work programme, which “aims to implement the main health policy priorities within the framework of the European Health Union”. The €752.4 million budget “will enhance its development and provide funding to solve important health problems across the Union”. This includes “reinforcing crisis preparedness in the EU and the ability to respond to challenges such as those related to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine”. “It will also ensure the implementation of key digital initiatives such as the European Health Data Space”, to “enhance patient care across the EU”. The 2024 budget “will contribute to strengthening the EU’s resilience to cross-border health threats and to implementing the Pharmaceutical Strategy for Europe and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan”. Commissioner Stella Kyriakides said: “today’s adoption of the EU4Health work programme for 2024 marks another key step towards an even stronger European Health Union.
