(Brussels) The League is projected to become the first party in Italy, with 27 seats in Strasbourg (out of 76 Italian MEPs) and a share of the vote of 32.4%. Indeed, the seat projections for the 26 May elections give Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini a lead. The European Parliament in Brussels released today the first seat projections, based on “reliable” polls conducted by national polling institutes, collected and processed by the European Parliament’s services. The data covers the entire EU. The Five Star Movement is projected to win the second largest share of the vote (25.7%, 22 seats) – in line with the surveys that have emerged in recent days – followed by the Democratic Party with 15 seats (17.3% of the vote). Forza Italia would win 8.7% of the vote (7 seats). And “Fratelli d’Italia” would be the last party to cross the 4% minimum threshold with 4.4% of the vote (4 seats).
