Human trafficking: COMECE and Salesians, Conference in Brussels on Catholic initiatives for prevention, contrast and care of persons

(Brussels) “Catholic Action against Trafficking in Human Beings” is the theme of a conference that will be held at the European Parliament in Brussels on 19 February. The event, jointly promoted by the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE), Don Bosco International, and MEP Teresa Jiménez-Becerril, will “gather Churches and civil society representatives together with policy-makers and other active stakeholders in the field of anti-trafficking”. Father Michael Czerny, Under-Secretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Holy See, will present the document “Pastoral Orientations on human trafficking”, published by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development on 17 January. Participants will also address the issue of prevention and sexual exploitation, with the presentation of a concrete initiative in this area, the “Fambul” project run by the Salesians in Sierra Leone.
