The Bishops’ Conference (DBK) and the Evangelical Church (EKD) have issued a joint invitation in Germany in view of the World Day of Prayer (promoted by Christian women) that the German Churches will be holding on 2 March, as part of the grassroots Christian movement that celebrates this Day on the first Friday of March in over 100 countries of the world. “All God’s Creation is Very Good!” will be the underlying theme of the prayers, texts and songs prepared by the women of Suriname with a special focus on the creation account in Genesis (downloadable at www.weltgebetstag.de). Everything “reminds us that we are caretakers of God’s creation!”, a joint statement from the DBK and the EKD reads. “Christian women all over the world are committed to ecology and ecumenism” and take care of “the common home in which we all live together” under an initiative that embraces the principle of “informed prayer and prayerful action”. “The World Day of Prayer Movement brings together deep spirituality and a passionate commitment to the cause of women and girls”, and this initiative is “an important boost to the community” and “a significant contribution to ecumenism”.
