European Commission: Brussels, Research and Innovation Week from today to Thursday

The Research and Innovation Week is taking place in Brussels from today until 21 March. Organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, it is referred to as the “European Commission’s flagship event shaping the future of research and innovation in Europe”. The programme of the event began at 2 p.m. with a series of panels and the awarding of the prize to “Women Innovators”. The Innovation Summit is scheduled for tomorrow. It will be followed by a series of events on Wednesday and Thursday to explore the subject across various policy areas: from social issues to the environment, art, culture, and health. “This year, we mark the 40th anniversary of the EU research and innovation framework programmes”, said Commissioner for Innovation and Research Iliana Ivanova, and “we start reflecting on the shape of the next one”. The Week will thus be an opportunity to discuss the theme for the next programme and to share updates on several political initiatives, such as the European Innovation Council (EIC) Impact Report and its new ambassadors, the guidelines on the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in research, the opening of negotiations between Switzerland and the EU, and transitional arrangements for the calls of the European Research Council (ERC) 2024. An exhibition is currently being held consisting of several projects funded by the European Innovation Council under different programmes and schemes (Tour & Taxis, Brussels).
